Changchun Normal University is located in the beautiful Northland Spring City—Changchun. It is an important training base for basic education, pre-school education teachers and applied high-level specialized talents in Jilin Province. It is an applied research provincial normal university with the right to grant doctorate degrees. An institution of higher learning with a long history of running schools and a glorious revolutionary tradition.
The predecessor of the school was the official Changchun Teachers' Training Institute established in 1906 (the 32nd year of Guangxu). It is the birthplace of teacher education in Jilin Province. For more than a hundred years, in different historical periods, the school has been renamed Changchun Fu School, Changchun County Normal School, Jichang Daoli Normal School, Jilin Provincial Second Normal School (referred to as the Second Normal School), and Changchun Normal School. In 1958, the municipal government established Changchun Teachers College on the basis of Changchun Normal School. In 1981, the school was approved as Changchun Normal University, and in 2013 it was renamed Changchun Normal University.
The school is known as the “Changchun Revolutionary Base Camp” and “Cradle of the Changchun Revolution”. On the campus of the “Second Division” at the time, it launched the first student patriotic revolution in the history of Jilin Province; established the Communist Party of China in Jilin Province The first branch of "Changchun Branch of the Communist Party of China"; edited and published the first journal "Autumn Sound" in Jilin Province that systematically spread Marxist theory. The school is the birthplace of the CCP organization in Jilin Province, the source of the patriotic movement, and the birthplace of the spread of Marxist theory.
The school has 77 undergraduate majors, covering nine disciplines including literature, science, history, education, management, law, engineering, art, and economics. There are more than 1,500 faculty members and more than 20,000 full-time students, currently recruiting students from 29 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions across the country. The school has 20 teaching units and 15 research institutes.

The school currently has 1 "high-level doctoral talent training program for the special needs of the country", 12 first-level academic master degree authorization points, and 5 master professional degree authorization categories. It was determined by the Jilin Provincial Academic Degrees Committee as a doctoral degree authorization unit to establish a university, and pedagogy, Chinese history, and chemistry are the disciplines of doctoral degree establishment. There are 8 characteristic high-level disciplines in Jilin Province, including 1 first-class discipline B, 4 advantageous characteristic disciplines A, and 3 advantageous characteristic disciplines B. The school is the first batch of pilot units for postgraduate education for the Master of Education (vocational and technical education) professional degree determined by the Academic Degree Office of the State Council. At the same time, it undertakes and implements the "Rural School Education Master Teacher Training Program", the "High-level Ethnic Minority Backbone Talent Training Program" and "Retired College Students The enrollment plan for the special graduate students of soldiers". The school has 457 graduate tutors, including 18 doctoral tutors, 439 master tutors, and 46 off-campus practice tutors. The scale of graduate training is expanding year by year. Through the implementation of the "dual tutor" and "three tutor" system, the construction of high-quality courses, the construction of internship bases, and graduate innovation projects, the reform and innovation of graduate education were promoted, and the first prize of the National Education Master's Discipline Teaching Skills Contest was awarded.
The school has 30 national and provincial scientific research platforms, among which the "National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Natural Medicine Separation, Purification and Activity Screening Technology" is a national scientific research platform established by the National Development and Reform Commission. "Center", "Key Research Base of Northeast Nationalities and Territory", "Jilin Opera Research Base of Jilin Province", "Marxist Education Research Base of College Students in Jilin Province", "Research Base of Clean Government Construction of Jilin Province" and other provincial scientific research platforms. Since the 12th Five-Year Plan, the school has obtained 1,651 scientific research projects at all levels, including 61 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 44 projects from the National Social Science Fund, and 6 projects from the National Art Fund. The school has continuously made new progress in foreign exchanges and cooperation. The school has established cooperative and exchange relations with more than 50 universities in Australia, Russia, the United States, France, Spain, Germany, Japan, South Korea and more than a dozen countries and Taiwan. Five undergraduate-level Sino-foreign cooperative education projects have been carried out with Southern Cross University in Australia, Kemerovo National Institute of Culture in Russia, and Sequino Valley State University in the United States. Implementing mutual recognition of credits with universities in the United States, Russia, France, Spain, Japan, and South Korea.
