Shandong Normal University is located in Jinan, a famous historical and cultural city. Over the 69 years since its establishment, the school has taken root in the fertile soil of Qilu culture, absorbed the humanistic charm of Quanzhou City, adhered to the campus spirit of "respecting the virtuous, advocating meritorious work, striving for success" and the school motto of "promoting morality and ambition, erudite practice", consciously inheriting and innovating Qilu culture, and striving to highlight the characteristics of teacher education. At present, the school runs in Lixia District and Changqing District, with a total area of nearly 4000 mu (about 2587800 square meters) and a construction area of 1410500 square meters. There are 1 National virtual simulation experimental teaching center, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 collaborative innovation center of colleges and universities jointly constructed by the province and ministry, 1 Key Laboratory of the Ministry of education, 1 Engineering Technology Research Center of the Ministry of education, 1 key research base of Humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of education, 6 key laboratories of Shandong Province, 1 Engineering Laboratory of Shandong Province and 5 engineering technology research institutes of Shandong Province There are 53 research and training institutions at or above the national level, including the research center, 2 key research bases for theoretical construction in Shandong Province, 1 key new think tank of Shandong Province, 4 collaborative innovation centers of colleges and universities in Shandong Province, 7 experimental teaching demonstration centers of colleges and universities in Shandong Province, and 9 scientific research and innovation platforms of colleges and universities in Shandong Province during the 13th Five Year Plan period. The library has 4.5294 million books and periodicals, 198 databases, 9.1294 million e-books and 44.4 million e-journals.
It has undertaken all kinds of projects of "quality engineering" of the Ministry of education. Four of them have won the title of national famous teachers, two of them have won the title of national "ten thousand talents plan", 18 national teaching achievement awards, 2 national teaching teams, 1 national comprehensive reform pilot project, 9 national characteristic specialty construction points, 8 national quality courses and national excellent resource sharing courses There are 1 national bilingual teaching demonstration course, 2 national talent training mode innovation experimental areas and national college students' off campus practical education bases, 6 national "12th Five Year Plan" teaching materials, and more than 1100 National Undergraduate Innovation and entrepreneurship training programs. Adhering to the characteristics of normal education, we have established a complete education system of pre-school education, primary education, secondary education, higher education and continuing education, and formed an educational theory talent training system integrating education bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctor's degree and post doctoral research. It is the only university in the Province with these two training systems at the same time. It is the leading unit of Teacher Education Alliance of colleges and universities in Shandong Province. The research and application of educational theory has achieved remarkable results, and the total number of awards ranks first in provincial universities. The doctoral and master's degree authorization points, such as pedagogy, psychology, curriculum and teaching theory, and educational technology, which embody the characteristics and advantages of teacher education, fill the gap in Shandong Province.
The university is one of the first batch of designated foreign student recruitment units approved by the Ministry of education, the first batch of Confucius Institute Scholarship receiving institutions, and the joint recruitment of overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions. It has established inter school communication and cooperation relations with 138 colleges and universities in 30 countries and regions. It was successfully selected into the "discipline innovation and talent introduction plan of colleges and universities". In South Korea, Kenya, the United States, Brazil and Saudi Arabia, five Confucius Institutes and three Confucius Classrooms have been jointly built by provincial universities and normal universities.
